With the support of the Hungarian government, the Central and Eastern European Academy of Oncology was established in July 2019 with the participation of twenty-one countries, fostering international cooperation in cancer research and treatment.
This collaboration spans all areas of patient care, including surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, coordination of national cancer control programs, and professional training. Furthermore, inter-country cooperation extends to pharmaceutical innovation and clinical research.

The establishment of the Academy marks a significant step forward for this region, following the path already taken by Western Europe and the United States. However, as each country has different circumstances and opportunities, and as we are individually weaker when working in isolation, this alliance not only strengthens oncology and medicine in general but also fortifies the entire region and its nations.
